Epivets Emerging Scientist Internship

Applications for 2026 open July 2026!

What is the EpiVets Emerging Scientist Internship?

The EpiVets Emerging Scientist Internship is a unique, fully-supported opportunity for Year 12 and 13 students in New Zealand to gain real-world research experience, mentorship, and resources valued up to $40,000. Interns are guided by EpiVets’ team of veterinary, epidemiology, and regulatory experts as they lead a project from idea to impact.

Unlike traditional internships, this programme is designed for students to take ownership of a real-world scientific project—developing their own research question, designing and conducting the study, analysing data, and presenting their findings. Interns receive one-on-one mentoring, access to industry networks, and exposure to coding, analytics, and commercialisation pathways.

The internship is structured to fit around school commitments, with flexible scheduling and support throughout the academic year. By the end of the programme, interns will have built a project that stands out on their CV, gained a formal reference, and developed skills and connections that set them up for future success in science and innovation.
