Emma is a former dairy veterinarian with a passion for rural communities and animal welfare. Emma completed a masters in veterinary studies majoring in epidemiology and a PhD on calf failure of passive transfer and mortality. Having co-founded EpiVets, Emma now has a passion for management and governance as well as study logistics, especially GLP and GCP designs. Based in Pirongia, Emma enjoys life with her husband, four children, and their many animals while following a keen interest in running.

Winston, a former dairy veterinarian with 12 years of experience in New Zealand and the UK, shifted to epidemiology to harness farm data for solving on-farm challenges, with has involved collecting a Master's of Veterinary Studies and PhD in cattle lameness along the way. A member of the Epidemiology chapter of Australian New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, he has spent the past six years improving animal and stakeholder well-being through research across diverse species. Based in Raglan, Winston enjoys playing guitar, social sports, and traveling when and where possible.

Julia is a regulatory affairs and product development expert with over 20 years of experience in veterinary medicines. After earning a PhD in molecular biology, she began her career with the UK regulator before moving to New Zealand in 2007, where she worked with Zoetis and later founded her consultancy, Intuit Regulatory. Julia joined EpiVets in 2024, bringing expertise in regulatory affairs and quality assurance. Based in Auckland, she enjoys exploring across New Zealand backcountry and volunteering in conservation projects.

Greg graduated from Massey University in 2002 and spent a decade in rural veterinary practice in New Zealand and the UK before joining Zoetis as a Veterinary Operations Manager. There, he developed his passion for research, completing an MVS in Veterinary Epidemiology in 2020. In 2022, Greg co-founded EpiVets, where he pursues his passion for research full-time while completing a PhD on mastitis in New Zealand dairy sheep. Based in Cambridge with his wife and two children, Greg enjoys exercising, cooking, and exploring random podcasts.

Epidemiologist

Matthew (Matt) is a veterinarian, epidemiologist, and data scientist with a BVSc and MSc in One Health/Epidemiology. He has worked globally and with MPI on the Mycoplasma bovis response. Passionate about the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health, Matt combines diverse skills to tackle complex problems. Based in Wellington, he also works as a locum vet and enjoys creative hobbies like cheese making, woodworking, and crafting pizzas in his earth oven.

Alex Crosbie

Alex Crosbie

Epidemiologist

Alex, trained in Sydney, began his career in dairy practice in Victoria while completing two master’s degrees concentrating on dairy cattle health, management, and epidemiology at the University of Melbourne. After moving to New Zealand, he worked in government on disease surveillance and modelling, while also completing a PhD focused on antimicrobial resistance in dairy herds. His primary interests include dairy cattle management, endemic infectious diseases, and disease modelling.

Laura has a rich background in animal health, welfare, and behavior science, spanning research, teaching, and government policy. Originally from the UK, she holds a BSc in Zoology and an MSc in Conservation Biology. Since moving to New Zealand in 2014, she completed a PhD in Animal Welfare, focusing on dairy goat lameness and hoof health, and contributed to key dairy sector trials. Based in Karapiro, Laura enjoys tramping, traveling, and spending time with her Labrador, Molly.

She has worked in various pharmaceutical roles, from Quality Control to Validation and Quality Assurance. Now a Regulatory Specialist at EpiVets, Claire applies her extensive GMP and quality expertise. Based in Titirangi, West Auckland, she enjoys family time and exploring local beaches and native bush.

Helene, a Massey University veterinary graduate (2005), has extensive experience in companion animal and rural sectors in New Zealand and abroad. She earned a Master’s in Veterinary Epidemiology from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 and held strategic roles at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha. Since returning to New Zealand in 2021, Helene has worked as a regulatory specialist, joining EpiVets in 2024 after its merger with Intuit Regulatory.

Sarah, originally from the King Country, brings 15 years of customer service experience in planning, administration, and auditing. She joined Vetent Research in 2020 as a research technician, quickly proving invaluable. Now at EpiVets, Sarah divides her time between office project management and on-farm work, witnessing the team’s efforts in action.

Stacey graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in 2007 and has since worked in various hands-on roles across the dairy and equine industries, gaining a broad understanding of New Zealand agriculture. Based in Te Kuiti, she enjoys farm visits and connecting with farming teams. Outside of work, Stacey spends her time on her rural property or at the stables, coaching and competing in dressage with her horse.

She has since worked with a sheep and deer stud in Te Anau and a breeding company applying collars to measure maternal pedigree. With a passion for hands-on animal work and connecting with farmers, Phoebe is based in Te Kuiti, where she enjoys being surrounded by animals alongside her partner.

Anna has always had a strong interest in animals and agriculture, which led her to study a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at Massey University. After completing this in 2015 it didn’t take her long to find herself working as a Research Technician. Anna loves the varied work and knowing we are really making a difference. A favourite part of Anna’s role is planning out the logistics of an on-farm trial then getting out there to put the planning into action.
